COVID19 - International Transport Communication

Hello,

From this day on and until the end of the coronavirus crisis, we will send you an update of the transport situation twice a week. This communication will be done every Tuesday evening and Friday at noon.

We have created a document in which you’ll find updated information per destination and per mean of transport. You’ll receive it by email from the transport officer in charge of your context. We do our best to give you the last information we have but the situation being really changing, it can evolve really quickly.
If you have any information at mission level, do not hesitate to share it. Also, if you wish to receive more detailed information, do not hesitate to contact the transport officer in charge of your context at MSF Supply.

General information:

  • Sea freight forwarders are advising not to ship containers anymore. The situation being extremely changing, they are worried that the situation could change between the moment the container live from Belgium and the moment it reaches its destination and that it would not be possible to get the container out of the port or that the container would be stuck on the boat because it could not be unloaded. That would indeed lead to high demurrage costs and the risk of not being able to get the goods back.

  • We have not obtained the authorization to export PPE yet. We are still working on it and doing our best to obtain it. Meanwhile, we will pack the orders of PPE separately and we will remove from the RTS freights all the packings containing PPE in order to not block any freight because of that issue.

Have a nice day,

The Expedition Team – MSF Supply
