Here you will find a tool that can give you an estimation costs for Air and Sea transport, based on the goods' weight and volume. You input weight and volume and the system will automatically calculate the volume weight.
The results let you compare costs for both transport modes.
When calculating transport cost for air freight the results are based on volumetric weight. The bigger an item is, the more room it takes up on a aircraft, and therefore the more it costs to send. If an item is large but light, the price will be based on the size rather than the weight. Thus the weight to be invoiced will be the greater than the actual weight. For air freight, the formula we use is the volume in m³ x 167 (standard rule is 1kg = 6dm³).
The calculation of maritime cost is based on volume. Also, the system will calculate the number of 20’ and/or 40’ containers needed. Keep in mind that a 20’ container can contain 24 m³ (max 18 tons) and 40’ container can contain 47 m³ (max 24 tons).
Entering goods value will calculate estimated insurance costs.
The calculation is based on prices provided by our forwarding agents who answers our regular calls for tender. This tool returns costs based on the highest bid, which means that the actual transport costs may be lower eventually.
Weights and volumes provided based on a packing (= goods in RTS) are the actual ones, while the ones in the catalogue may be just an indication.
